Leo G. Henry, Ph.D,  is a teacher/tutor and educator. He has been educating/teaching/tutoring students in the disciplines of mathematics and science (chemistry and physics) for over 22 years. He has worked both nationally and internationally. He has both  B.Sc.& M.Sc. degrees in Physics from the Universitiy of the West Indies, with minors in chemistry and mathematics.  Dr. Henry received both his M.S. & Ph.D. degrees in Materials Science & Engineering from UC Berkeley, CA.  

 

As an engineer, Dr.Henry has taught Physics, Materials Science, and Failure Analysis principles associated with Integrated Circuits at Universities, Symposiums, Conferences and local ESD/Engineering societies. He has published/presented many papers in the same fields mentioned above.

 

Dr. Henry now tutors/teaches math and science (chem. and physics) to Jr. High, High School and Community College students in the Bay Area.  He has also taught math and science at some Bay Area educational institutes (DeVry Univ., EXCEL Educational Services, ACE Prep. and LPFI ) over the past 10+ years.  Dr. Henry is a senior member of the IEEE, and several other electronic associations/societies.

 

Mrs. Albarrán was born in Mexico and came to the United States under her parents’ vision of a better life for their children. She was the first one in her family to graduate from high school and the first one to attend college. She grew up undocumented until she was a junior in high school and remembers waking up early in the mornings as a child to accompany her parents to the strawberry fields.

 

She has recently been promoted to Near Field Range (NFR) Test Section Manager, where she will be responsible for the unique antenna subsystem test facility at SSL. Ms. Albarran Chicas is the first Latina in the history of SSL to hold this position. Previously she was a Senior Antenna Program Manager at SSL with experience in design, manufacturing, and integration of antenna subsystems of commercial satellites.

 

Mrs. Albarrán has been awarded the SHPE-SV Estrella Award by the SHPE-Silicon Valley Professional Chapter, the Science & Technology Emerging Leader Award by Silicon Valley Latino, and featured on “25 Latinas Who Shine in Tech” by Latina Magazine. She has also been featured as a speaker by LatinaStyle Magazine on the Women in Technology Panel and on the Latinas in STEM: Aerospace Edition Panel for Adelante Mujer Latina.​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​

Mr. Guillermo Jose Chicas was born in San Jose, California when his parents immigrated to the US seeking refuge from the Salvadorian civil war. Being first-generation, he became the first person in his family to graduate from college, in 2003, with a dual degree in Mathematics with Computer Science from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.


While at MIT, Mr. Chicas taught Multivariable Calculus and Differential Equations courses. Upon graduation, he came back to the Bay Area and worked at different magnet schools teaching mathematics and computer science Olympiad courses (USAMO, ACSL). Additionally, he has taught at the University of California, Berkeley.
 

Mr. Chicas gained experience as a QA engineer when he worked for a software company, Acuitus, developing and deploying a digitalized instructional platform intended to aid US Naval IT specialists. As an entrepreneur, he has established Empower from the bottom up and has helped many students accomplish their hopes and dreams at top tier universities, then at companies such as SanDisk, Google, & Lockheed Martin. He currently enjoys teaching, writing code, & investing in the stock market.
